About our dj & program

I’m Kevin, but I go by DJ_Kev_Chaos. I am the founder of the music program at The Inmate Connection, and currently I’m our lead producer. My work mostly includes hip hop, R&B and soul music. I produce beats, remixes, and mix & master tracks. With some master engineer help of course! Music has been a hobby and passion of mine since childhood. I got lost in the lifestyle young as a DJ, and was incarcerated for 10 years. While I was locked up, I continued to write music and poems. I also read books on the music business and how to run a record label, engrossed myself with sheet music, song lyrics, Music/DJ magazines, and anything else music related I could get my hands on. I day-dreamed of being a part of the music industry, similarly to most young aspiring artists.

I was released from prison at the age of 28 and immediately started taking courses to learn, relearn, and master my craft. In 2016 I graduated from a DJ & Music Production Program taught by a variety of world renowned artists. Many of my songs were written in prison, I actually wrote them to a drum beat. I would bang on my bunk with my knuckles and a pen- sound familiar? Being able to recreate my songs with real instruments, the bass loop in my head, and adding melodies has been a passion I’ve turned into something more. Yes, I do make beats too and I’ll have them ready during your session, you can always ask me to play a few samples.
